A number of our talented students and alumni won prestigious awards in 2022.
Interior Architecture students Isabelle Kleijn and Noah Sunderland were awarded Silver and Bronze in the IFI Global Awards Student Category. These awards recognise design excellence at a global level.
Two UNSW Built Environment students were winners in the Designers Australia Awards 2022. Dorcus Chu was named Australian Industrial / Product Design Graduate of the Year, and NSW/ACT Design Graduate of the Year. Lia Pipolo was named NSW / ACT Interior Design Graduate of the Year.
Two UNSW Built Environment students were also shortlisted as part of the AA Prize for Unbuilt Work which seeks conceptually rigorous, inventive responses to contemporary architectural issues, open to both students and practitioners. Bachelor of Architectural Studies student Ethan Whitty-Pike’s design ‘Garrigarrang Piers’ and Bachelor of Interior Architecture student Noah Sunderland's design ‘Memoria’ were both listed in a shortlist of only 15 works from across Australia.
Two 2021 graduates were shortlisted by industry experts for the Global Design Graduate Show 2022 in collaboration with Gucci. Mackenzie Peachey from the Bachelor of Interior Architecture program for her project Mask.d and Shirelle Altona from the Bachelor Of Landscape Architecture for her project Kelp I’m Drowning!
Industrial design Honours year student Kathy Ky won the NEXT GEN (Student) BEST IN CLASS for the 2022 Australian Good Design Awards for her honours project “Neural Tourniquet”. Kathy was also the Australian National Runner-Up for the James Dyson Award
